I’m sitting at the Easy Street Café. What a way to start my day – on Easy Street.

And, for that I am grateful. I sit in a booth, with music playing, being served by breakfast and an endless cut of very good coffee. I am really thankful that they completely and totally handle the dirty dishes.

Gratitude is very flattering. Thinking about what you are grateful for, even when times are a little low, helps you focus on what you have … what is going right … what is working.

Okay, you say that’s good and all but my life is hard right now. I will not argue on that point. All I will say is that no matter what your situation, giving thanks impels you into a positive energy space.

Answer me this: When you walk into a room, who is more appealing the person who is radiating a positive energy or the person who is radiating a negative energy.

Most of the time all of us will say ‘the person who is radiating positive energy.’

Part of finding true love is being a person who your true love wants to approach.

So try this the next time you are at a party and don’t know what to do, feel uncomfortable talking to strangers or just don’t know what to say.

Ask yourself “What am I grateful for about the way I look right now?”

Then, ask the next person you talk to this question

“Normally I ask people what they do for a living, but instead I would like to ask you to tell me one thing you are grateful for about this party?”

See what happens? Let me know.

I do want you to be aware that many people are most comfortable talking about what’s not right rather than seeing what’s good in the moment and being grateful.
Here is where you can make a positive contribution to our world – choose not to participate in promoting what’s wrong. All you have to do is re-ask your question.
‘And, what is one thing you are grateful for about this party?’

Sometimes people are so used to the negative that they cannot find anything positive. I like to help them out by leading with an example something like this…
I’m grateful that there are salty munchies, how about you?
Or, if you are trying to avoid salty munchies, you might say…
I’m so grateful that there is an alternative to potato chips, how about you?

This way you give them something to focus on – munchies. Or the clean floor, or the good music, the big TV, the fact that your friends have great friends, or friends that you don’t know so you can get to know new people.

I project that you will infect that party with an uplifting energy.

I’m moving my computing system to from PC to Mac. Simple, they say. Well if you are a hardware/software whiz, maybe.

I found my true love support tech last night. His name is James and he works for Lexmark Printers. My work-horse, duplexing laser printer is so old that it comes with lifetime support. Imagine that.

Okay, but what does this have to do with true love really? Well, I was frustrated, depressed, mad, and ready to give up and go back to Window XP.

Then I thought about my finding true love process and decided to relate it to my love/hate relationship with my computer system. I knew I could make the switch and achieve my ultimate goal to have an easy seamless computing system.

I also realized that I was in foreign territory (PC to Mac transition and Mac’s system). I realized I could succumb into the frustration abyss and just go back to my PC or hold onto my vision of a wonderful computing environment using the Mac.

I decided to not give up but to move forward by making one more call to tech support. This time I was rewarded with a genuis. I called out of hope rather than desperation. James helped me, even called me back to see if I had yet purchased a different cable, and then stayed late to complete the work-around so I could print.

Knowing I could, embracing hope rather than desperation was key to my being successful. Knowing you can and embracing hope are two keys to finding true love in the world. No one loves desperation and hope is very attractive.

Focus on hope. Focus on ‘Yes, I can’ and see what miracles happens in your life.

And, give thanks. Thank you James from Lexmark.

The election in the US is over and this country has lived up to it’s itself. Congratulations to the United States of America.

If you are a US citizen, to you the US is the greatest country in the world. If you are from our neighbor Canada, Canada is probably the greatest, most beautiful country in the world.

It’s all about our individual perspective, isn’t it. The Total True Love System is in use around the world from Australia to South Africa, to Cyprus, to England, to Canada. Love is universal, we all want it.

As the True Love Coach and a world citizen, I would like to invite each one of us to be kind. Our individual lives work better when we are kind to each other, our nations work better when our leaders are kind to each other. Our world just works better when we are kind to each other.

I love my country and I hope you love yours. The same sun grows the trees in my back yard and yours.

As we all look for love in ourselves, in our communities, in our schools, in our backyards, let us respect each other by being kind.

Do one new and different kind behavior today and see what happens.

Vote and find true love.

Sound a little far fetched?

Yes… and no.

Today is election day in the United States. It is suprising what the conscious act of voting has in common with finding your soul mate.

When you vote, you are practicing a trait that is essential to finding your one and only.
You are doing several things.

1st is preparation. Here you learn about the candidates and their views.

2nd is a sifting process. In the US we have a long election process. A lot of material is presented by, for, and against each canidate and their views. Most of the time we think this sifting process is about the candidates, but it is really more about the voter.

The voter has to figure out what their position on the issues are before, he or she can consciously vote. It’s like discovering your irresistible definition of life in terms of the issues. It is, if you take the time an incredible journey into yourself and what you believe and want for your life.

3rd is taking action by actually voting - chosing who best respresents you as a citizen.

This process is like finding true love because fyou have to discover what you want in Mr. Right before you can consciously pick Mr. Right. You can do what everyone else has done for years — trial and error — More appropriately called ‘trial and divorce.’

Voting and finding true love both start with knowing yourself and what you want for your life.

Now one last thing about voting — someone does not win.

Accepting and pulling together after a long and hard competition is what happens next. For me, I have a clear preference but will gladly and graciously support whomever wins because that choice represents what the body of the US people want.

I’m sitting at my sister’s kitchen bar. I’ve spent the last several days around my four nephews - 17 to late 30’s. I’ve had a great time and this morning I get an email men finding women by finding their own personal authority. You know what, I agree.

For years I worked with witnesses preparing to testify in court. We worked on developing their personal authority so they would be able to stand in their truth. Standing in your truth, knowing what it is and respecting yourself is a personality trait that is attractive on anyone - women and men alike.

I’m seriously considering putting something together for women. We need personal authority too. Everyone does. I wrote a series of booklets called ‘What the Opposing Atttorney Doesn’t Want You to Know.’ It’s all about developing personal authority. I use that exact same language.

So what you can do till then…. Just start to notice where you do not stand in your truth, where you might give in not because you are wrong but because you do not believe in yourself.

Wow, what a statement about true love and about life in general. I know in itself is a big statement. Then and onto it that beyond the fact that I know, I know that I know. What an incredibly powerful and peacful state.

When I found my true love, my total true love, I knew and I knew that I knew.

How did I know?

In retrospect, can see a difference. What I thought I was love was in fact love. I loved those people I was with, but I always had a niggle (nagging voice inside my head/heart) that questioned those relationships. Today, as I’m heading towards my 10th anniversary with my life partner, I’m amazed that I have never had this questioning niggle pop into my head.

If you have been dating a really nice man for a few years but you keep asking yourself if you are in the right relationship or is this really Mr. Right, he may or may not be. Oh great, you say what should I do? Dump him? But then what?

But then what is eactly the right question to ask yourself. I say this because if you have not unraveled your irresistible definition of true love, chances are you will keep picking the same type of guy over and over again.

What to do - figure out your irresistible definition of true love. What love means to you - not anyone else.

Then, you will know and more importantly you will know that you know if you have found Mr. Right, your soulmate.

It may take a bit of time, but plan the seed in your mind that you want to discover your irresistible definition of true love.

Find a job and find true love at the same time? Well, how about in the same way - through networking.

Have your every heard that the best way to find a job is through networking? It’s true because you can find jobs before they are pubically advertised or even finalized in the mind of the employer. One networking example is to join an industry association and go to their monthly meetings and get to know people.

You attract men and then finding true love much the same way - through networking. In this instance, networking looks like going to a party or joining a bowling league or a softball team or volunteering at your church.

You are expanding your social circle in a way that is safe and comfortable for you. If you are a reader, go to book readings. Do what comes natural for you.

When you do what comes natural for you, you are happier and happy is a magnet for attracting men.

So, Coach Colleen’s perscription is go out and have a good time.

I’m going to tune in and see how this new TV show plays out. It’s called The Ex-List. Here’s the plot ‘A marriage-minded woman searches for her Prince Charming among her many ex-boyfriends.’ It seems this marriage-minded woman is going to re-visit all her ex-boyfriends because a psychic told her she had already dated her prince charming.

Makes for great drama - preferably only on TV and not in your life. An entire season or more of dating the wrong Mr. Right. She can’t find Mr. Right and have the show continue.

Unfortunately, we absorb a lot about what love is supposed to be from TV and the movies.
