Be independent and find true love… Happy 4th of July

Hi all,
Being independent does not mean being a loner. In your relationships, to me, it means knowing yourself. Knowing what you want based on your values, your beliefs, and your desires. And, believing in yourself enough to take a stand for your beliefs.
And, I will add, being open enough to really hearing the values, beliefs and desires of another without giving in or giving up. Then, together, you can reach a decision that is based on common understanding. Which, by the way, may not be based on a common agreement. You might not agree.
Coming from that place of true communication is different than always agreeing. If you are always, always in agreement, my guess is that one of you is giving in or giving up. Do you ever do that? If the issue is not that important to you, it probably doesn’t matter. But, if you always give away your values, your beliefs, your desires, you give away your independence.
