Happiness - Where Does It Come From?
By Coach Colleen | February 18, 2009
Hi There,
This is a great quote from a little book - This Thing Called You.
Permanent happiness comes from a quiet contentment and an inner sense of certaintly which cannot be shaken by outside conditions, whether good or ill.
How to get this quiet contentment and inner peace?
These days, I really need an icon to hold in my mind and my heart that roots me to my inner true self. My icon, my metaphor, is an oak tree.
An oak tree has solid, deep, strong roots. Yet, it’s limbs reach for the sky. It is nourished without doing anything and it gives back by changing carbon dioxide to oxygen. It feed squirrels, houses birds, and shades people.
It graciously gives and takes and grows all by being itself. That sounds really good to me these days.
I’m as prosperous as an oak tree, as giving as an oak tree, as solid and secure as an oak tree - all leading to that sense of inner contentment and peace.
What’s your icon for happiness?
