Sunshine … Rain … Rainbows
By Coach Colleen | October 10, 2006
One visual image metaphor that I have for my true love relationship is a rainbow. The Irish heritage in me visualizes that my true love is the pot of gold at one end of the rainbow and I the pot of gold at the other end. And, a rainbow always appears after rain.
Rain can come as gentle rain, a squall, in torrents, torrentail downpours, cause catastrophic mudslides, or in the exact right proportions to nurture and feed the earth and its plant life. The key is that rain can come in many forms from the almost invisible to hurricane proportions.
I’ve had a few squalls and maybe even a hurricane or two with my true love in the past month or so. It’s all within my metaphor… and the rainbow is out and full and colorful and beautiful.
I am thankful that I had the rainbow metaphor. I did not even consider that it wouldn’t ever be there again.
What are your enduring visual image metaphors for your true love relationship?
